 Darkness Never Wins

Halestorm, "Darkness Always Wins" lyrics

now, the world is still

it’s just me spinning out

trapped inside my head

feeling numb

and there’s no song to sing

to save me from myself

i’m fading into black

we’re all fighters

holding up our lighters

chasing off the monsters

drowning in our sins

with every last breath

try to stop the sunset

running with the shadows

darkness always wins

i make the same mistakes and i cant change my ways

its how ive always been

its in my bones, a heart of stone

and then the cold comes creepin in

i'm fading into black

we’re all fighters

holding up our lighters

chasing off the monsters

drowning in our sins

with every last breath

try to stop the sunset

running with the shadows

darkness always wins

darkness always wins

darkness always wins

yeow!

we’re all fighters

holding up our lighters

chasing off the monsters

drowning in our sins

with every last breath

try to stop the sunset

running with the shadows

darkness always wins

we’re all fighters

holding up our lighters

chasing off the monsters

drowning in our sins

with every last breath

try to stop the sunset

running with the shadows

darkness always wins

darkness always wins

John 4:7-26amp, vv.15-24:  The woman said to Him, “Sir, give me this water, so that I will not get thirsty nor [have to continually] come all the way here to draw.” 16 At this, Jesus said, “Go, call your husband and come back.” 17 The woman answered, “I do not have a husband.” Jesus said to her, “You have correctly said, ‘I do not have a husband’; 18 for you have had five husbands, and the man you are now living with is not your [f]husband. You have said this truthfully.” 19 The woman said to Him, “Sir, I see that You are a prophet. 20 Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews say that the place where one ought to worship is in Jerusalem [at the temple].” 21 Jesus replied, “Woman, believe Me, a time is coming [when God’s kingdom comes] when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. 22 You [Samaritans] do not know what you worship; we [Jews] do know what we worship, for salvation is from the Jews. 23 But a time is coming and is already here when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit [from the heart, the inner self] and in truth; for the Father seeks such people to be His worshipers. 24 God is spirit [the Source of life, yet invisible to mankind], and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Luke 15:11-32amp, Prodigal Son, verse 20So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.

Matthew 14:22-33amp, Peter walks on the water to Jesus, verses 28-33:  Peter replied to Him, “Lord, if it is [really] You, command me to come to You on the water.” 29 He said, “Come!” So Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw [the effects of] the wind, he was frightened, and he began to sink, and he cried out, “Lord, save me!” 31 Immediately Jesus extended His hand and caught him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you [b]doubt?” 32 And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased. 33 Then those in the boat worshiped Him [with awe-inspired reverence], saying, “Truly You are the Son of God!”

No one has to drown in their sins.  Christ is right here reaching out to you everyday to save you just as He did Peter.  He reached out to the woman at the well, despite her past and the fact that she was a Samaritan.  That shows that everyone can come to Christ.  He saw His son from afar off and had “compassion” on him.  He welcomed him home with open arms and threw a party for his son returning home!  It is never too late to come home to Christ.  If you’re drowning in your sins it is because you are not reaching out too as Peter did.  Peter cried out "Lord save me” and “immediately” the Lord reached out to save him.  Salvation is a choice.  It requires you to take action.  You either choose to be saved or you don’t.  Christ will never force you, which is an example of His unconditional love towards you, is your freedom to choose.  He wants you to choose Him.  He laid down His life so that you might choose Him:  No one has greater love [nor stronger commitment] than to lay down his own life for his friends, John 15:13amp.

Once more Jesus addressed the crowd. He said, “[a]I am the Light of the world. He who follows Me will not walk in the darkness, but will have the Light of life.” John 8:12amp

Darkness never wins.  The light of the world gave His life for this world so that it may be saved.  Jesus shines His light on the darkness and therefore it is defeated.  When He rose again on the third day darkness was forever defeated.

Above all, have [a]fervent and unfailing love for one another, because love covers a multitude of sins [it overlooks unkindness and unselfishly seeks the best for others]. 1 Peter 4:8amp

Christ’s death covers all our sins. He is love.

For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him.

John 3:17amp

Christ came here to show us how to live, then died as the ultimate sacrifice for all of our sins, past, present and future.  He died to save us, not to judge us.  He came that we may be able to know Him and know the Father.  He came to have a relationship with us.  A relationship with Him is what saves us.

But He was wounded for our transgressions,

He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing];

The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him,

And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed.

All of us like sheep have gone astray,

We have turned, each one, to his own way;

But the Lord has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]

To fall on Him [instead of us].

He was oppressed and He was afflicted,

Yet He did not open His mouth [to complain or defend Himself];

Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter,

And like a sheep that is silent before her shearers,

So He did not open His mouth.

Isaiah 53:5-7amp

This was done for our healing.  Because the wickedness of all of us fell upon Him, that is what has destroyed the darkness.  Darkness has been defeated and can never win.  Christ defeated death and sin for us all.  It is the ultimate victory.

Romans 10:9-10amp, His life and light can be your life and light, should you choose to accept it:  because if you acknowledge and confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord [recognizing His power, authority, and majesty as God], and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart a person believes [in Christ as Savior] resulting in his justification [that is, being made righteous—being freed of the guilt of sin and made acceptable to God]; and with the mouth he acknowledges and confesses [his faith openly], resulting in and confirming [his] salvation.

Christ inside of you is the light that shines brighter than a lighter (a lighter eventually runs out, Christ is the light that never dies) and defeats the darkness.  Remember in the name of Jesus every demon (monster) must flee and every knee must bow.  The same power that raised Him from the dead will, can and now lives inside of you (Rom. 8:11).

“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden;” Matthew 5:14amp.  There are lights everywhere.  We cannot be hidden! If you don’t know the light, find one of these little lights and they will lead you to the Great Physician, who will heal your sick heart (Jeremiah 17:9). Stop running from the light.

All humans struggle with sin thus the reason you need a Savior.  It is with Him you either have the strength to swim to safety or He pulls you out of the water.  It is only without Him that you will drown.  Christ is here and where the presence of the Lord is, there is freedom.  Darkness never wins:

In God we trust

In Him we must believe

(He is the only way)

In God we trust

His Son we must receive

(Tomorrow's too late, accept Him today)
