Only Yourself to Give, Ps. 51:17ESV
You're supposed to come to Him with nothing because at that point all you have to give, all you can give is yourself, and you, your heart is what He wants. For you will not delight in sacrifice, or I would give it; you will not be pleased with a burnt offering. 17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart , O God, you will not despise. Ps. 51:16-17ESV The only sacrifice that the Lord wants from us, us our hearts. He wants “a broken and contrite heart”. Is your heart broken when you realize that you have sinned? Contrite: Feeling or showing sorrow and remorse for a wrong you have done. Are you remorseful and do you feel sorrow for what you have done? 1 Samuel 16:7 teaches us that the Lord looks at the heart.
