Matters of the heart. Hearts are wild. That's why they're in cages...

The NLT says to "guard your heart" because it "determines the course of your life". The ASV says to "keep thy heart with all diligence, for out of it are the issues of life". Looking at the NIV we're taught that "above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it".

So, whatever you have or hold in your heart shall determine the flow or the course of your life. The Word teaches us everything we do comes from the heart. Seems to me that if you would like your life to go in the right direction you should put Jesus in your heart (Matt. 11:28-30) because obviously everything else you've put in it has caused you nothing but trauma. If you want Galatians 5:22-23 in your life then you gotta put Jesus in your heart.

John 2:24-25 teaches us that Jesus knows what's in man's heart. He understands the "superficiality and fickleness of human nature". Thus He still died for us because He knew we needed Him in our hearts. If He isn't in there, put Him in there today (Rom. 10:9-10). And, if He's already in there let Him know that you know you need Him everyday, every hour, every moment for always because He is the only way you will make it through this life.
