Rest, Humility & Compassion
Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”. Ps. 46:10amp
Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who always does good and who never sins.
Ecc. 7:20amp
20 So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him. Lk. 15:20amp
I believe I have discovered the fact that I have three favorite scriptures or at least have three scriptures that I continuously come back to. I have many that I lean on but these three seem to keep me grounded, if you will.
Ps. 46:10amp, Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God.
I will be exalted among the nations! I will be exalted in the earth.”. It is a reminder to stop the hurry in your life. Stop the busyness in your life NO MATTER WHAT IT IS. STOP AND REST. Be still! Rest and know that He is God. Praise Him for all that He's done in your life.
Ecc. 7:20amp, Indeed, there is not a righteous man on earth who always does good and who never sins. This is your humility verse. For the self righteous ones reading this. Know this: YOU AIN'T ALL THAT. You are capable of falling, failing & sinning just like the rest of us. All sin is the same in His eyes and we all sin. Our horizontal consequences may be different but neither one of us is better than anyone on the planet. Please get over yourself quickly. Therefore, Ecc. 7:20 keeps us humble.
Luke 15:20amp, So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
It's that second part though that makes me cry every time. “But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him”. God sees us away, off from Him and is moved by compassion and comes and meets us where we are! He runs to us! He hugs & kisses us because we have come home. He never pushed us away. You are NEVER too dirty to come home to Jesus. Notice his son was still in his clothes from being in the pig pen and the Father STILL embraced and kissed him. You are not too dirty.
He has compassion on us. We are to have compassion on all people. Not just the ones we pick and choose because He has compassion on all people. So, today remember to rest in Him, be humble as He is humble, and to have compassion on everyone you meet.
Rest. Humility. Compassion.
