Wants vs. Needs, Phil. 4:19amp
And my God will liberally supply (fill until full) your every need according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:19amp
Wants versus needs. Not just at Thanksgiving. It is not just at Thanksgiving that we should consider these two things. However, since it is Thanksgiving it’s the perfect time to talk about it.
We all have wants. Those things we would like to have but we don’t necessarily need.
Want: have a desire to possess or (do something); wish for
Need: require (something) because it is essential or very important
We need to remember at this time of Thanksgiving to be thankful for the needs that he has supplied for us and will always continue to supply for us. Our wants don’t matter, if they did the scripture would read He “will supply your every want and need”. Yes, be thankful for those things you wanted and received because you were blessed to earn it. However, what you need is always more important than what you want because those are necessities. Those are things that are essential for living, not optional. They are “must haves” to live. In essence, keeping the lights on, eating, clothes, a working car, a job, etc. those are needs. Those are your “must haves”. Without those things you can not live and our Lord provides those things for us. He will always make sure that we have those things to survive in this world until He takes us home and then we won't need any of those things. While we are still here we need to stay thankful to Him for providing our needs. 1 Thess. 5:16-18, Rejoice always and delight in your faith; 17 be unceasing and persistent in prayer; 18 in every situation [no matter what the circumstances] be thankful and continually give thanks to God; for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus.
Be thankful for all of your needs being met.
