 What Christmas is about

John 1:14

Word became flesh

(Luke 1)

We tend to joke or use the term divine intervention. But it's not something we should joke about. You seem to forget that we've already had it. It's already been given to us.

Divine intervention:  Christmas was divine intervention. We needed a savior. We need to be saved. John 3:17, For God did not send the Son into the world to judge and condemn the world [that is, to initiate the final judgment of the world], but that the world might be saved through Him.

Christmas is John 1:14. The Word became flesh. Do you not understand the sacrifice He made to save you? God loves you so much, He wants a relationship with you so much that He came to earth and became a man to make it happen. Christmas is about God's reconciliation. Christmas is about God connecting with us. It is about God wanting a relationship with man. He is seeking relationships. Luke 19:10, for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.  When we look at John 1:1-3, we see that Jesus was there at the beginning. He saw the fall of man. He saw the relationship fall apart. Thus Luke 15:11-32, the story of the Prodigal Son, specifically verse 20, He saw us and had compassion! His compassion for us is why He came in the flesh.

Where are the ones who will be like Mary and say "Be it unto me". Luke 1:38. Be it unto me Lord, and come into my life. Be it unto me Lord and come into my heart and change my life. Turn my mind around. Rearrange my course and put me on the right path. Cleanse my mind, body and soul and make me brand new. I want to walk with you. I want a relationship with you Lord. Lead me and guide me in your ways all the rest of the days of my life.

Christmas is not about gifts. It is not about trees. It is not about food or how much money you've spent. It is not about how many Christmas pictures you post with your family or your spouse on social media. It is about relationship. It is about God wanting a relationship with you. Everyday you should be asking yourself and at this time of year you should be asking yourself: how is my relationship with God?

Everything the Lord has done for you is predicated upon Luke 15:4; 20. He has seen you from afar and has compassion on you. He left the 99 to save you. This is what Christmas is about.
