Feed Your Heart, Ps. 119:11NIV
Your word I have treasured and stored in my heart,
That I may not sin against You. Ps. 119:11AMP
I have hidden your word in my heart
that I might not sin against you. Psalms 119:11NIV
Let’s revisit Psalms 119:11. It’s one of my favorite verses in the bible just for the simplicity of it. Hide the word in your heart so that you might not sin against Him. Plain and simple. It tells you directly what to do so that you might not sin against the Lord: hide the word. Hide the word where? In your heart, where the Word already lives (John 1:14) if you are a believer. So, in other words, keep feeding your heart Jesus to keep you from temptations and sin. It must be daily because we are tempted daily. Our hearts have the capacity and the want to change at a moment's whim. Our hearts are like the squirrel in the movie Hoodwinked. Jesus knows our hearts: But Jesus, for His part, did not entrust Himself to them, because He knew all people [and understood the [a]superficiality and fickleness of human nature], 25 and He did not need anyone to testify concerning man [and human nature], for He Himself knew what was in man [in their hearts—in the very core of their being]. John 2:24-25AMP
Therefore, continue to feed Jesus to your heart on a daily basis: Jesus replied to them, “[a]I am the Bread of Life. The one who comes to Me will never be hungry, and the one who believes in Me [as Savior] will never be thirsty [for that one will be sustained spiritually], John 6:35AMP. Your heart yearns to follow and worship something. Let it be Jesus and only Jesus. The more you feed it Jesus, the less hungry it will become for the things of this world.
