Heart Check, Luke 12:15AMP

Then He said to them, “Watch out and guard yourselves against every form of greed; for not even when one has an overflowing abundance does his life consist of nor is it derived from his possessions.”  Luke 12:15amp (Proverbs 4:23amp)

So, true and obvious because Jesus said it.  Just because you have a lot of stuff it means nothing.  Your car, house, money, clothes, mean nothing.  What you own here on this planet will not get you into heaven nor does it make you a better person or a more desirable person.  What matters is what’s in your heart.  So, this is when you need to stop and do a heart check.  Ask yourself, what is in my heart?  If it ain’t Jesus, then you have a problem.  Or if He is in there and He is trying to share space with your possessions then you have another problem:  “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money. Matt. 6:24niv.

For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world [wealth, fame, success], but forfeits his soul? Or what will a man give in exchange for his soul?  Matt. 16:26amp.

Read Ecclesiastes Chapter 1:   Everything is meaningless.  Everything you gain here on earth is meaningless.  Your fame, fortune, social media, good looks, etc. means nothing.  We need to remember daily that it can all come to a stop in an instant.  None of us are promised tomorrow.  What is on earth is temporary, however what is up above is eternal.  We need to always put our hope in the eternal:  So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable. 2 Cor. 4:18amp. Store your treasure in heaven:  “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moths and vermin do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. 21 For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Matt. 6:19-21niv.

Whatever you have here is nothing and will always be nothing.  Your Father in heaven is everything and supplies everything.  If you have Him, you have everything that you need.  Who or what is in your heart?  Where is your heart?
