Good Friday: Out of Love, Out of Compassion, Is. 53:5-7amp
You were lead like a lamb to slaughter
And as you bled, hell got hotter
And as I read my emotions were shattered
As I envisioned your body battered
Out of love
Out of compassion
You turned Your light on me
To end my misery
Out of love
Out of compassion
I found I needed you
No one else will do
On this Good Friday let's remember the words from Bloodgood's song. Christ died for us and endured the cross out of love, out of compassion. It was His love and compassion for us that saved us. His life, His blood covered our sins and paid for our salvation. That is why this is a Good Friday.
Isaiah 53:5-7 AMP
[5] But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was crushed for our wickedness [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing]; The punishment [required] for our well-being fell on Him, And by His stripes (wounds) we are healed. [6] All of us like sheep have gone astray, We have turned, each one, to his own way; But the Lord has caused the wickedness of us all [our sin, our injustice, our wrongdoing] To fall on Him [instead of us]. [1 Pet 2:24, 25] [7] ¶He was oppressed and He was afflicted, Yet He did not open His mouth [to complain or defend Himself]; Like a lamb that is led to the slaughter, And like a sheep that is silent before her shearers, So He did not open His mouth.
Luke 15:20 AMP
[20] So he got up and came to his father. But while he was still a long way off, his father saw him and was moved with compassion for him, and ran and embraced him and kissed him.
God saw our need and He met that need with His own Son Jesus. We have all gone astray and gone our own way. But through Him, through His sacrifice we can come home just as the prodigal did. He saw us from afar off, was moved with compassion and embraced us and kissed us.
Today let us not forget Is. 53:5 begins…
Out of love, out of compassion…
