Every Plan, Prov. 16:3TPT

Proverbs 16:3 TPT

[3] Before you do anything, put your trust totally in God and not in yourself. Then every plan you make will succeed.

Yes, we’re back to the Passion Translation! It puts this as plain as can be.  No matter what you are planning to do today, tomorrow, presently or in the distant future, put your trust in God.  Do not trust anyone else.  Don’t even trust yourself!  Remember you can’t even trust your own heart, Jer. 17:7-10, but you can always trust the Lord.  Don’t listen to anything the world says (Proverbs 3:5).  The world knows nothing.  The world will always be against you but the Lord is always for you (Jer. 29:11).  The world will drop you at a moment's notice once it's done with you.  The world will chew you up and spit you out.  However, the Lord will never leave you nor forsake you (Heb. 11:5).  Key phrase in this verse, “Then every plan you make will succeed.” So, if we put our trust in the Lord every plan we make will succeed.  Then that means stop trusting yourself or your best friend. Stop expecting your job to work it out.  Stop expecting your church family to work it out. And on a side note, the doctors are not the “Great Physician” the Lord is.  This means that whenever something happens that wasn’t part of “your” plans you still put your trust in the Lord. That verse doesn’t say some of your plans or just a little bit or one plan, it says every plan.

The definition of every is the determiner.  It is used to refer to all the individual members of a set without exception, preceding a singular noun. Used for emphasis for all possible or the utmost.

So, all possible plans you make or the utmost plans that you make when you put your trust in the Lord it is determined by the word of God that they will all succeed.  Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight, Prov. 3:5NIV.

  1. Beautifully put. The hardest thing for me to do is to place the plan in God's hands. In my work and personal life, I can be a results driven man who is also cautious and logical when I plan something out. The one thing I often ignore, the most logical step is first giving the plan to God. Let Him give me the wisdom to know when to push forward or when to hold back.
