Be Like Samwise, Gal. 6:2AMP

Galatians 6:2 AMP

[2] Carry one another’s burdens and in this way you will fulfill the requirements of the law of Christ [that is, the law of Christian love]. [John 13:34]

John 13:34 AMP

[34] I am giving you a new commandment, that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, so you too are to love one another.

Carry your brother's burden. Carry your sister's burden. Love one another.  Carrying another's burden is loving them.  Whatever they are carrying help them to carry it. Walk with them through whatever it is that they happen to be going through at the moment. Be their burden bearer.  Be their Samwise Gamgee.

In essence this is what Jesus is calling all of us to do for one another. This is how we are to show love to one another. It is to be one another's Samwise. When Frodo couldn't go any further he carried Frodo the rest of the way. We all need that someone to carry us the rest of the way. To carry us to the top of the mountain. Be that someone to carry another to the top of the mountain.

  1. I have been watching, "The Chosen" lately. In recent episodes they have shown just this. Carry each other's burdens. A very touching moment in The Chosen was some time after Jesus had preached to the crowds about if someone asks you to walk a mile walk with them two. Jesus and his followers were on the road to see Lazarus. There they encountered a squad of Roman soldiers who invoked a law that said Roman Soldiers can command a jew to carry their gear a mile. They did what they were ordered to do all the while the soldiers were mocking them. However, after they reached the mile marker, the Romans were taking their gear back, but Jesus kept walking the additional mile to the Roman's barracks. The disciples followed suit but the soldier's demeanor began to change. Instead of mocking, they helped carry some of the load as well and were thankful to Jesus and his followers foe the assist. It was a very neat moment. While that story is just for show, it still exhibits what Jesus taught. It was really neat.
