Standing On Business, 1 Cor. 3:11AMP
[11] for no one can lay a foundation other than the one which is [already] laid, which is Jesus Christ.
Standing on business definitions:
To not fold in a situation.
To stand your ground, not let your guard down, not give in to pressure, not get distracted. Many people use it to refer to keeping your standards up and honoring their boundaries, often when feeling emotional, lovesick, or temporarily attracted to someone.
My question is: How are you standing on business if the foundation of your business isn’t Jesus? You can’t stand up on anything if its foundation is not Jesus. If the foundation isn’t Jesus then what are you standing on? I think this phrase needs to be changed to standing on Jesus. There’s only one true business and that’s God’s business because He’s in the business of saving lives. He’s in the business of changing and transforming lives. If we follow Him then we are in the same business. His foundation is already laid. All you need to do is stand up on it.
John 3:17, For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. And Romans 12:2, Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Jesus is the Word, we learn in John 1 and we can be saved through the reading and hearing of His Word, we learn in Romans 10. Stand on the One who can totally transform your life for the better. Stand on the only One who can truly save you. Stand on the One who will never leave you nor forsake you. Stand on the one who sticks closer to you than a brother. So, no matter what the world throws at you or no matter what anyone thinks or says, if you’re “standing on business” make sure your business is Jesus because all other things are sinking sand.
