What is Your Song? Ps. 40:1-3NIV

 Devo 10/31/25…

What is your song?

I waited patiently for the Lord;

    He turned to me and heard my cry.

2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit,

    out of the mud and mire;

He set my feet on a rock

    and gave me a firm place to stand.

3 He put a new song in my mouth,

    a hymn of praise to our God.

Many will see and fear the Lord

    and put their trust in him.

Ps. 40:1-3 NIV

I waited patiently for the Lord

He inclined and heard my cry

He lifts me up out of the pit

Out of the miry clay

I will sing, sing a new song

I will sing, sing a new song

How long to sing this song?

How long to sing this song?

How long, how long, how long

How long to sing this song?

You set my feet upon a rock

Made my footsteps firm

Many will see

Many will see and hear

I will sing, sing a new song

I will sing, sing a new song

This is what the Lord had done for all of us.  If you wait patiently for the Lord He always will hear your cry.  He pulled all of us out of that pit.  He has pulled all of us out of the miry clay and saved us.  He saves those who reach out to Him on the daily. Key words: waited patiently.  Two things that human beings have a hard time doing but trust me waiting on the Lord is definitely worth it, which is what David and U2 are conveying in their respective songs.  Key phrase:  He put a new song in my mouth.  The Lord will always give you the words to say.  We know this from the stories of Jeremiah and Moses.  When He saves you He gives you a new song to sing.  That is your testimony.  Your old life that He saved you from is a worn out old tune.  It’s like that pop song that the radio station won’t take out of heavy rotation, however God is the ultimate DJ and can play what He wants, therefore, we get a new song. The story of how you came to Christ are your new lyrics.  You now sing a new song.  Of course in classic Bono fashion he asks how long to sing this song, which none of us knows but we are to sing it as long as we are here so others can be lifted out of the miry clay.  So others can get to sing their new song. Are you singing your song today?  Are you singing it everyday?
