When it's love
When It’s Love is definitely one of my all time favorite Van Halen songs. So much so when the video dropped I went out and bought some baggy red pants similar to Sammy Hagar’s in the video. No joke, I have pictures of this. *insert laughter here* It speaks the truth. We’re all looking for something. We’re looking for that something to fill the hole inside of us and that something is Jesus. He is the only thing that lasts forever. The song is right in the sense of when you have love, Jesus, nothing’s missing.
[9] By this the love of God was displayed in us, in that God has sent His [One and] only begotten Son [the One who is truly unique, the only One of His kind] into the world so that we might live through Him. [10] In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation [that is, the atoning sacrifice, and the satisfying offering] for our sins [fulfilling God’s requirement for justice against sin and placating His wrath].
[15] Whoever confesses and acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. [16] We have come to know [by personal observation and experience], and have believed [with deep, consistent faith] the love which God has for us. God is love, and the one who abides in love abides in God, and God abides continually in him.
[17] In this [union and fellowship with Him], love is completed and perfected with us, so that we may have confidence in the day of judgment [with assurance and boldness to face Him]; because as He is, so are we in this world.
God filled the holes. Only Jesus can fill the holes or hole that you feel. What you're looking for is Jesus. You will always be empty until you put Jesus into your life. There is only one who died for your sins and only one who paid the price for your sins. Only one whose blood can atone for our sins. When you abide in Him, He abides in you.
Yes, it lasts forever because He is eternal and infinite. He is the beginning and the end.
[4] Love endures with patience and serenity, love is kind and thoughtful, and is not jealous or envious; love does not brag and is not proud or arrogant. [5] It is not rude; it is not self-seeking, it is not provoked [nor overly sensitive and easily angered]; it does not take into account a wrong endured. [6] It does not rejoice at injustice, but rejoices with the truth [when right and truth prevail]. [7] Love bears all things [regardless of what comes], believes all things [looking for the best in each one], hopes all things [remaining steadfast during difficult times], endures all things [without weakening]. [8] Love never fails [it never fades nor ends]. But as for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for the gift of special knowledge, it will pass away.
How do we know it's love? 1 Corinthians 13 spells it out for us. It is patient, kind, is not jealous, not arrogant, not rude, not self seeking, it's selfless, it doesn't remember wrongs, not provoked to anger, rejoices with truth, it endures everything, it never fails or ends. When all things have passed away it will still be here. That is God and He is love. That's how you know when it's love and that's how you know when He has entered your life. When love is in your life it will fill that empty hole and satisfy your thirst for Him forever (John 4:`3-14). You will be utterly and totally fulfilled in Him. 1 John 4:17 says we are completed in Him. Jesus completes us. Only His love can complete you and no one else. Your woman can't, your man can't, your family can't and the world can't complete you. No one on this earth can complete you. Only Jesus and He lasts forever.
