Do You Wanna Know? Ps. 139:17-18AMP
Devo 3/24/26…
(Do I wanna know) If this feelin' flows both ways?
(Sad to see you go) Was sorta hopin' that you'd stay
(Baby, we both know) That the nights were mainly made
For sayin' things that you can't say tomorrow day
Crawlin' back to you
Ever thought of callin' when
You've had a few?
'Cause I always do
Maybe I'm too
Busy bein' yours
To fall for somebody new
Now I've thought it through
Crawlin' back to you
(Artic Monkeys, Do I Wanna Know)
In this song the main character is not only obsessed about the person they're in love with but also paranoid about their relationship. What an interesting space to be in. Obsession and paranoia over the person you’re in a relationship with. Such a human fleshly trait. Unfortunately, some of us have either been this person or on the receiving end of such a person. Thankfully the Lord is neither obsessed nor paranoid about His relationship with us. First He knows us. He knows our hearts. Secondly, in spite of knowing our hearts, what He desires most with us is a personal relationship with us. Do we wanna know? Yes. Does He want to know? Yes.
Romans 5:8: "But God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."
1 John 4:10: "In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins."
He already knows everything about us yet sent His one and only Son to earth to die for our sins. Jesus was the sacrifice for our sins. God loved us that much that He put His Son as the ultimate down payment for our transgressions. He loves us with unconditional love.
Zephaniah 3:17: "The Lord your God is in your midst... he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing."
Ephesians 2:10: "For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago."
The Lord does think about us on a continual basis. His thoughts about us cannot be numbered. As the scripture says, “I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand.” This isn’t obsession or paranoia but an eternal relentless love for His own creation. His unconditional love is limitless and infinite. There is no other love like His love. We are His first and only love.
Psalm 139:13-14: "For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made."
Psalm 139:17-18: "How precious are your thoughts about me, O God. They cannot be numbered! I can’t even count them; they outnumber the grains of sand."
The question is: Do you wanna know? Do you wanna know Him? Because He wants to know you. He’s already made it extremely obvious that He does. Again, He sacrificed His Son for you. He gave up His Son so you could be free. He left the 99 to come find you. Come know Him today and allow those feelings to flow both ways. Confessing you know Jesus is something you can say more than just tomorrow day.
