Good Thing, Prov. 18:22 ESV
Devo 3/6/26…
He who finds a wife finds a good thing and obtains favor from the Lord. Prov. 18:22 ESV
God’s sounding board. The Holy Spirits bull horn. Also known as your wife. If you haven’t figured it out yet, when the Lord wants your attention He will always speak through your wife. She is here to help, not to hinder. Once you figure that out, as well as Eph. 5:25, then your life will get easier. Wiser words could not have been spoken, “He who finds a wife finds a good thing”. Keywords here: good thing. Your wife is a good thing and you best remember that especially since you went out to “find” her. In other words, we are the pursuers, not the other way around. And, how do we treat “good things”? We take care of them and cherish them. We protect them. We uplift and encourage them. Are you following me here? Good, I hope so. I’m sure you’re catching the idea and I shouldn’t have to spell the rest of this out. So, are you a good steward of your wife? She belongs to the Lord as do you but He has put her in your life to help you. He has blessed you with her and He expects you to take care of your blessing.
The second part is awesome: and obtains favor from the Lord. Keywords here: obtains favor. From who? The Lord. Let me see, obtain favor from the world or the Lord? Which one do you think has infinite favor? Which one is never going to leave me nor forsake me? Which one is going to stick closer to me than a brother? Which one will leave the 99 to come save me? Who is going to give me favor that is “good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over”? Sounds like to me, that apparently the Lord wants you to find a wife, if you go searching for one, so He can bless you. If you’re single, seek the Lord. He will lead you to her and He will bless you.
Remember that you’ve found a “good thing”.
