What Determines the course of your Life? Gal. 5:19-21NLT
When you follow the desires of your sinful nature, the results are very clear: sexual immorality, impurity, lustful pleasures, idolatry, sorcery, hostility, quarreling, jealousy, outbursts of anger, selfish ambition, dissension, division, envy, drunkenness, wild parties, and other sins like these. Let me tell you again, as I have before, that anyone living that sort of life will not inherit the Kingdom of God.
This is the evidence of the flesh. This is the evidence that you are living for the world and not God. These are the results of what is truly in your heart, if you are living like this. If these things are a habit for you, not you made a mistake or a wrong choice, but habits. If these become routines, then how can we or you say that Christ is in your heart?
Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be. Matt. 6:21 NLT
“The human heart is the most deceitful of all things, and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is? Jer. 17:9 NLT
The heart is deceitful above all things,
and desperately sick;
who can understand it?
10 “I the Lord search the heart
and test the mind,[a]
to give every man according to his ways,
according to the fruit of his deeds.” Jer. 17:9-10 ESV
Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life. Prov. 4:23 NLT
When you don’t guard your heart with Jesus the world will determine the course of your life and the world will lead you to destruction. The world will not lead you to the Kingdom of God. When Jesus is not guarding your heart your heart will follow whatever desires it pleases without any regard for Christ. Your ribcage is not enough to protect your heart. The ESV says it is “desperately sick”. The only cure for you is Jesus. There is no other anecdote. Continuing to feed your heart with the world will only put you in a never ending vicious cycle that only Jesus can get you out of. Jeremiah 17:10 teaches us that the Lord gives to us according to our ways and the fruit of our deeds. He searches our hearts and tests our minds. (John 2:24-25 NLT) If you want to receive great blessings then you must have the mind of Christ. If you want to inherit the Kingdom then you need to put Jesus in your heart. Jesus needs to determine the course of your life.
