[14] Strive for peace with everyone, and for the holiness without which no one will see the Lord.
Let focus on the first part of the scripture. Strive for peace with everyone. Sounds like you love your neighbor, right? It is. Yes, at all costs strive for peace with everyone. Love your neighbor, ladies and gentlemen. Yes, easier said than done because we’re stuck in our flesh but that's why we have Christ. Only He can give us that umph, to strive for peace with everyone. We lean on Him to get that charge of energy to actually love our neighbors even when we don’t want to. As always, if we want to accomplish anything, what do we have to do: keep our eyes on Him. The word has spoken: strive for peace with everyone, even if you don’t believe the same way. Even if you don’t have the same politics as your brother or sister. Even if you’re not a Saints fan or a Cowboys fan. Even if your boss does something you don’t like. We need to do what the word has asked us to do. And, when we feel like we can’t do it, we need to lean on Jesus so we can.
