Time is Short, Ps. 90:12AMP
Teach us to realize the brevity of life,
so that we may grow in wisdom. Ps. 90:12 NLT
So teach us to number our days,
That we may cultivate and bring to You a heart of wisdom. Ps. 90:12AMP
During my therapy session yesterday, my therapist quoted this scripture to me. I’m currently dealing with my age. When you’re about to hit….you realize you’re not getting any younger, you start thinking about time: How much time do I… You look at your kids and your grandkids if you have them yet. I do. You think about your awesome wife: How much time do I… You start to see your heroes die. That sucks, just to be real, it sucks. Psalm 90:12 is a gentle reminder that we don’t have a lot of time here on this earth. It’s a gentle reminder that our time is short. The word “brevity” means brief. We are here for a moment and then gone the next. Make the most of the time that the Lord has given you. Make the most of the time that you have with your family: your time is short. But, this scripture also points out that those of us who do realize this are wise. Key phrases: “so that we may grow in wisdom” and “that we may cultivate and bring to you a heart of wisdom”. Recognizing that our time here is brief is wise. Use that wisdom in reconciling the fact that time is ticking. Use that wisdom to enjoy the time that you do have here. Use that wisdom to do some good in this world before you go home. Use that wisdom to bring someone to Christ (the ultimate hero) before you are called home.
