Flattery? Daniel 11:32amp

"With smooth words [of flattery and praise] he will turn to godlessness those who [are willing to] disregard the [Mosaic] covenant, but the people who [are spiritually mature and] know their God will display strength and take action [to resist].

Daniel 11:32amp

This is a good word!  The phrase ‘flattery will get you nowhere’ is not necessarily true.  It will get you somewhere but somewhere you don’t wish to be.  It will get you in some deep trouble.  Godlessness is not the place we wish to be in though there have been many times where we have stumbled and done a big piece of stupid.  Godlessness is when we continue or fail to see that we’re staying in that ‘big piece of stupid’ instead of crying out to the One who can save us from what we’ve either stumbled into or we’ve deliberately put ourselves into.

There is hope.  “The people who are spiritually mature and know God will display strength and take action”.  So, if you’re truly spiritually mature and know God, you will display the strength (Phil. 4:13) He has given you and you will take action.  You will pull yourself out of that situation you’ve put yourself in or others and take action.  Take action?  We will turn away from, repent of, whatever godlessness we have found ourselves in or stumbled upon.  We will repent of the mistakes we’ve made.  We will repent of the mistake of seeking flattery and praise from others instead of giving praise and honor to the only one who truly deserves it everyday from us:  God.
