Unselfishly... Matt. 22:37-39
And Jesus replied to him, “ ‘Y ou shall love the L ord your G od with all your heart , and with all your soul , and with all your mind .’ This is the first and greatest commandment. The second is like it, ‘Y ou shall love your neighbor as yourself [that is, unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others].’ Matt. 22:37-39 AMP
So, ask yourself this question: Am I keeping both of these?
Do you love the Lord with all your heart, mind and soul? Are you loving your neighbors as yourself? The AMP says, "unselfishly seek the best or higher good for others". Do you unselfishly seek the best or higher good for other people? Not your family, but other people. People you don't know. I am speaking of complete strangers. Everyone you might come in contact with on the daily. The lady in line behind you at the grocery store or the man in the car next to you at the traffic light. Are you thinking of others instead of yourself?
As I said in my birthday post last week: the key is compassion. Christ had compassion on us and gave His life for us. That is an unselfish act. The most unselfish act ever. If you love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind and soul, the one who died for you; then it should not be a problem for you to unselfishly seek the best or the higher for the person next to you. No matter who they are or where they come from because He does for them. He did it for you.
