Love Others, 2 John 1:6TPT
2 John 1:6TPT, This love means living in obedience to whatever God commands us. For to walk in love toward one another is the unifying commandment we’ve heard from the beginning.
So, from the beginning we were told to walk in love with one another. We were told to love one another as He loves us. This shouldn’t be new or a shock to us. Furthermore, it says it’s a commandment. We as believers have a command to love one another. Loving one another, as believers, no longer becomes a choice, ladies & gentlemen; if you have chosen to follow Jesus, then you must be willing to listen to and follow His commands. Keywords: “living in obedience to whatever God commands”.
Are you living in obedience to this command or did you forget about this one? Even though since the beginning you’ve heard and read it multiple times, yet you still disobey it. It’s all or nothing. As the band Barren Cross sang, “Gimmie Heaven or nothing!” Either you follow all the bible, or none of it. We don’t need anymore fence riders. Either you love others as commanded or you don’t. It means all others. You don’t get to pick and choose. It simply says love one another. It wasn’t broken down into groups. Obey all of the Word not just the parts you want to and disregard the rest. So, what if you tithe. Do you love your neighbor? Who cares if you’re in church every Sunday but do you love your neighbor? We don’t care how many scriptures you know. Do you love your neighbor?
You must love others as you love yourself (Matt. 22:37-39). How can you love God with all your heart, soul, and mind, but not even love the person next to you when He loves them, too (1 John 4:20). You are the contradiction, not God. Fix yourself. Walk in obedience to God and love others, not yourself. The ultimate example of selflessness was Jesus. Don’t call yourself a believer in Him, if you can’t or are not willing to follow the example He set for us. Love others & love them sincerely (Romans 12:9).
