Takes a Second, Ecc. 8:7AMP

Takes a second to say goodbye

Say goodbye, oh, oh, oh

It takes a second to say goodbye

Say goodbye, oh, oh, oh, say bye bye

Where you going to now

(Seconds, U2)

Bono’s words ring true.  It only takes a second to say goodbye.  If you’ve ever heard this song before then you know and understand how profound this statement is.  All of the things in life we do saying goodbye is the shortest and the hardest.

Tomorrow may never come

There'll be no more time to run

Just walk through the door

That is open wide

Tomorrow may never come

Let Him in

(Tomorrow, The Brave)

Ecclesiastes 8:7 AMP

[7] For no one knows what will happen; So who can tell him how and when it will happen?

James 4:13-15 AMP

[13] Come now [and pay attention to this], you who say, “Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city, and spend a year there and carry on our business and make a profit.” [14] Yet you do not know [the least thing] about what may happen in your life tomorrow. [What is secure in your life?] You are merely a vapor [like a puff of smoke or a wisp of steam from a cooking pot] that is visible for a little while and then vanishes [into thin air]. [15] Instead you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will live and we will do this or that.”

So true! Tomorrow may never come.  Tomorrow does not have to happen or you don’t have to wake up.  Tomorrow is a gift.  The Lord could return tomorrow and that would be the end.  No one knows the day or the hour He will return.  We are merely vapor.  We are here for a minute and then gone the next.  It is wise to say, “if the Lord wills” we will do this or that.  Only the Lord knows what will happen tomorrow which is why we should trust in Him.  This is why, if you haven’t already, you need to give your life to Him.

Revelation 3:20-21 AMP

[20] Behold, I stand at the door [of the church]and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him (restore him), and he with Me. [21] He who overcomes [the world through believing that Jesus is the Son of God], I will grant to him [the privilege] to sit beside Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down beside My Father on His throne. [1 John 5:5]

One of the keywords in these scriptures is “continually”.  Which means Jesus continually knocks and will do so until He returns.  He will continually seek to have a relationship with you.  He is knocking at your door right now. It’s time to stop running.  He will never stop speaking to you from the other side of the door to your heart.  He will never cease.  It’s your choice to answer the call or to ignore it.  He wants fellowship with you.  The only way to overcome the world outside is believing that Jesus is the Son of God.  Today is the day of salvation! (2 Cor. 6:2) Let Him in. Don’t say goodbye to this world without knowing Jesus.  Remember, it takes a second to say goodbye.
