Set Your Mind, Col. 3:2ESV

Colossians 3:2 ESV

[2] Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.

This would alleviate so much stress for us.  If we would only focus on the things above.  Take your eyes off of your circumstances.  Take your eyes off of that mini computer in your hands.  Take our eyes off of those situations at work.  Meditate on the things above.  Meditate on the Lord and His word.  Meditate on the Lord and all of His amazing works.  Meditate on the Lord and all of His creation.  Yes, easier said than done, but it can be done and that’s the thing.  We know we are capable but are we practicing what we’re capable of doing so that it becomes a habit.  Are we remembering this when things go south?  Are we remembering this when we don’t get our way or what we want or what we think we deserve?  Are we remembering this when we deal with difficult people in our lives?

If your mind is habitually set on Him, everything around you will become dim.  Everything around you will become dim in His marvelous light and that light will dispel the negative circumstances surrounding you.  Let His light work on your problems.  Your anxiety does nothing for them.  Your strength does nothing for them.  Set your eyes on the eternal and the temporary will yield to it because it has to.  If things feel frazzled and hectic then you need to stop and ask yourself a question.  What is your mind set on?
